Basic Carb Settings
Basic Carb Settings
I remember seeing a post a while back on the basic settings for the AFM screw and Idle screw. The number of turns out for each of those screws were supposed to get your carb close to the ideal settings with slight tweaking either way. I tried searching for it but came up dry. Can anyone direct me to that thread or or give me the recommended turns? Thanks
I still can't find the information I am looking for. Does anyone happen to know the name of the tread with the info in it. Doing a search on the carb settings yields too many results. Thanks again
Turn your idle speed in quite a bit it shoudln't matter. Mixture all the way in and out 4 turns. Start the car, then adjust your idle back out until your desired rpm is reached.
Works on my car at least.
Good luck.

I used to turn the mixture screw in until the engine starts hunting then back out about half a turn. If you find the engine stalls when cold you'll need to back it out a touch more.

Turn the mix screw 2 turns to the right, 3 to the left, then 1/2 turn to the right. That's the combo that will open the gate where all the ponnies your engine has are locked.

Conversely, look up this thread that - surprise! - was in the FAWQ like Trochoideous said.

Pull the needle out and inspect it for any sign of pitting or etc. On IDA inlcuding weber sidedraft, mikuni & dellorto, each barrel has a A/F mixture screw. If one tightens more than the other, thats when you start investigating.

how can u adjust the acc.pump to squirt more fuel into the jets as u push the gas pedal down? u just turn that ac.pump bolt? if so how many turns?can u remove the pump and get more power?
There is a 7mm. Nylock nut at the end of the rod which forces the lever against the spring. Turning this nut clockwise will increase the total amount of fuel injected into the engine during rapid throttle opening. Turning it counter clockwise will have the opposite effect.
There is a mod for the ap which increases the total squirt. Do a search and you'll find it.
