bad casing gaskets?

i tracked down the smoking thermal reactor problem.....its oil...

when i was under the hood i looked for other leaks and suck and noticed i have oil leaking from the underside of the front of the engine. could this possibly be the casing gaskets? also could this be the reason my oil pressure gague doesn't work?

Clean up the underside and see if you can source the leak, it could be the oil pan gasket, or it could be a number of other things. What year/model is your car? If it has the beehive oil cooler, that could be the source of your leak.

As for the pressure gauge, check the connection on the sender unit, a little mushroom shaped brass thing on the rear driver side of the engine off the side. The connection sometimes gets a little dirty.

front of engine near the thermal reactor exhaust manifold? It will be your OMP, there really is only a couple common leaks on these things. What I did with my engine is I took off the omp, make a blockoff plate out of think aluminum and began premixing my gas. The problem could also be a leaking oil pan, but then it wouldn't be leaking onto your thermal reactor.

If you have a picture I could tell you in like 2 seconds, the OMP that im talking about is on the front plate of the engine offset to the right (while standing looking at the engine from the passenger side fender) of the intake manifold.

EDIT: ok found a picture, this shows the location of the oil metering pump. As for the pressure gauge not working I agree that the wire is probally just disconnected, it is located below the beehive oil cooler, and the wire connects to the bellshaped (gold colored) thing, the wire clips onto the tip where it jets out.

83' means you have the beehive cooler, look below where the oil filter mounts.

BTW: you should have cats, not a thermal reactor... that manifold is just the suck (it LOOKS like a TR manifold, but its not)
