I know everyone has seen pictures of this car. I have looked all over this website and other rx7 websites trying to get details about teh body work. I know it was custom. Im trying to figure out what was used and such. Also trying to find more pictures. It is my favorite 1st gen and one of the only widebodys that I like.

I talked to this a guy a few years ago. He was willing to take $13,500 for it at the time. He said it was a porsche strosek kit modified to fit the car. I know i probably butchered the strosek part. the front end is a modified Stillen 300 z nose.

I thought the front end looked z32ish. Ill have to look more into the porsche kit. Do you happen to know what type of porsche it was from. Im assuming a 911?? I think im going to try to figure this thing out in hopes of making something like it... well Less purple though, more black or midnight blue, and less of a wing. Anyway, back on track. Im assuming the z32 front end was cut and half, had some middle removed, and put back together. Sectioned?? Im quite sure that the fb is not as wide as a z32.

This car was dreamed up at a Halloween party after a bad lsd trip with a decision to build the most ugly looking sports car in the US with a vomit color paint job.

It looks like the bastard you would get when a splayed out RX-7 was gang banged by a pack of porsches and datsuns. The colour reminds me of a rotting plum, with a spoiler designed so the mess is easy to be picked up and be dumped in the nearest junk yard. Aborrtion must be illegal in that state, wonder if mercy killing is legal?

My concept of hell would be to be parked next to it for eternity in a real gen 1.

well they do look like nice flares but can they be picked up for less than 50$$ a corner? cause theres no way im paying more than 200$ for them who cares if theyre porsche theyd have to be modified to work and plus youd need wheel spacers probably too...

When I first joined this forum, I posted this car. I thought it was the hottest **** ever.

Now, almost three years later, I don't like it so much. I think I have come to appreciate the stock body more. In fact, there are only 2 body kits that I actually like on the SA/FB: my kit, and the IMSA widebody kit on that silver SA that is floating around.

In fact, I don't like many body kits at all, on any car. Maybe my tastes have just matured over the years because that car's look doesn't impress me much. The time, money, and effort sure do, but the end result... eh... not so much.

Being a widebody guy myself,I can appreciate the work that went into that car.

That said....I cant stand the wing,its putrid and totally out of place,plus having it molded into the car makes it nearly irreversible.The fact he blended the rear bumper in flush, is very trick and Im sure it was tough to do,but again its irreversible.
The front end is cool,very original looking in the way of widebody 1st gens.The wheels and color arent my taste either,but at least its all attached to a quick car with plenty of power.....

Hmm Im with steve on this one. The car might be a hidious purple. and not look so much like a stock 7 but there is some mighty fine body work in that car! lower the spoiler a few inches and that i think it would look alot better but you have to give the man some credit, the widebody on that was done nicely.

I keep getting so close to finding the front bumper but I just cant, Strosek is the proper spelling, and they do make bodykits for porsches, its prety evident that one has a strosek bumper too after looking at these:

I agree with steve about the wing and wheels, and color for a matter of fact. I've always liked porsche's and the smooth flowing lines used in the widebody cars. I actually like the mariah kit. So I was doing some research and Strosek also makes body kits for many other cars and suv's. One of which happens to be a z32 300zx. They actually have a couple different kits for the 300zx. Maybe thats why the references to Strosek and the 300zx came about? Reminds me of a slant nose 911 sort of. Well and other smooth flowing widebodys out there. I cant seem to find one that I like.

Sidenote, I actually had a 87 300zx turbo, so the styling cue's attrack me. After that I had a Chrysler Conquest TSI. Which is a very aggressive wide bodied car. And I love the way the fb handles and feels. Why not have everything I want?

Heres the Mariah kit......




The side skirts and rear bumper cover are not part of the kit,nor is the wing.The Mode 1 comes with 4 fenders and the front bumper.I like this kit because its not too wide.Just a bit of flare to give some aggresive feel to the car.It also has the factory beltline indentation on the fenders,which makes it flow well with the factory steel.
On a race car I like the wider styles,but for street I never was hot on the huge widebodies that require door extentions and have fenders that can double as tables!

I believe this car was in Ontario, Canada. Not to sure but thats what someone said a couple months back. so if it is then its not the ugliest car in the US.

I like it cause the guy must have put so many hours into the body work.


Their was another guy out there that has made a clone of this car with a diffrent wing and front bumper. i knwo some one one here has the pics of it

...it is undoubtedly a very nice car...but unless you are overly familiar with the amount of body work and fab that it would take on that car cypres I suggest starting off with something else

The amount of work just to fit up a regular "made for our car" widebody, quickly and easily exceeded the purchase price of the widebody.Its just a damn lot of work, and bodyshop labor isnt cheap.If you can do it yourself,then go for it,just do it RIGHT or youll regret it in a few years.

I remember seeing the pics of that "clone".......it was horribly done as far as duplication, and very subpar quality bodywork.....

Steve~ how does the mariah mode one and the pacifica kit differ? They look very close to the same and yes, I love that red car that you pictured. won best 1st gen award too. So it seems other people like it aswell, one of my favorite first gens... All around great car with the power to back it up. My compliments to you and your car.

Lee~ I have helped with many full restorations on older cars. 60's trucks, a very nice 32 ford, my first car was a charger that we helped look new again. On the other end of the spectrum, I have also put body kits on honda's and nissans and such. Whats the point of molds if nothing ever fits right anyway?? haha The fab work on that car is amazing.

I wasnt looking to necessary clone that car. Just find out what was on it to make a version of my own. I like the lines of the mariah kit but the front fascia just isnt for me. Are there any other options that would work with that kit?

Like I said, I had talked to this guy about 5 years ago. I dont know if he still has it now or not. He just did not recommend anyone taking this project on. It was a friend of his that owned a body shop and did most of the work for him and he said it still cost a fortune and took years. The front bumper is a STILLEN 300z modified to fit with the strosek kit.

I kind of side with the post earlier. When I first saw it I thought it was the coolest, but now I have grown to appreciate the stock bodylines and am glad I didnt attempt anything like this on my SA. Who knows, you might still be able to hear about this car from the horses mouth. The way I got in touch with him was through the Bay Area Rx7 club. It was the feature car Feb 2000 or something like that. His name was Tyrone Henriques.

Thanks,it was a long road, and it wasnt cheap...Im still paying off the 3 year paint/body work.

The main differences I see is that the Pacifica kit keeps the factory front bumper.There seems to be a regular narrow body airdam(looks like a Mariah Mode 4 clone)...then the fenders tuck around the bumper edges and mate to the airdam....thats the part I dont like.The corner is busy,not smooth.On mine,it looks like the factor bumper is there,but its all just smooth fiberglass,no gaps where the bumper used to be....and the stock front bumper is heavy.
With the Mariah,you save a lot of weight losing that bumper,but you still keep the bumper's bumping action since theres a small aluminum piece to join the bumper shocks together.....as if it matters! The fiberglass would be ruined if you hit something hard enough to get the bumpers to "bump".

I also see side skirts,which the Mariah kit doenst offer.They might be add ons,like I did with my sideskirts...Im not sure, since Ive never seen a bone-stock Pacifica kit.
