Backpreasure for 5th&6th ports.

So, now that I've got my exhaust setup done, I'm wondering if there's enough back preasure to operate the 5th and 6th ports. Basically, RB headers -> power pulse presilencer -> 2 1/4 pipe -> rhino strait thru 2 1/4 muffler -> 2 1/4 tip. Theres an o2 sensor and the 5th&6th port actuator line running off of the presilencer. Now, it still has the stock flanges from the origional connecting pipe, so I guess at some spots it dips down to 2" ID instead of 2 1/4, will this have enough back preasure to activate the 5th&6th ports at around 4krpm, or should I bust out some grease and go for a drive to confirm it myself (no grease around right now so that's why I'm askin )

Probably aren't working... but get someone to rev the car to 4000rpm as you watch the acutators and see if they move. If not, search the air pump activated 6th port mod.

good idea. I'll try out some white grease first to see if they're actually going. Just having someone rev to 4k won't do it, as there's not enough load to create enough backpreasure to move the ports at all, even tho mine are super smooth and easy to move now

well, they still work, but, only come on at about 6krpm. It's funny seeing the tach suddenly roar up into the redline .... kinda like a race engine that doesn't start to breath propperly until 5.5k hehe. At anyrate, I'll be rigging up the airpump to operate the ports sometime early this week, or maybe tommorrow if I get a chance.

Lets us know what you do and how it goes, and get some pics if you can. I would have already tried to do this mod if I were still anywhere near my car. I know a ton of people ask about this. Thanks,

Scott

I did this not too long ago.... Make sure to use a METAL ball type valve, if you use a plastic one like i did it will melt and become useless once again. Once donem your acutators should be fully open by 4k.

hrmm....

Well I rigged it up to go on the airpump, starts going slowly at 3ish, on full by 4krpm.

Thing is, it still seems to suddenly accelerate at 6krpm.... prehaps the ports were opening correctly before as well, what's with the crazy acceleration at 6k?

Im not too sure about the crazy acceleration.... But NOT accelerating would be a problem to worry about!

Well this is pretty interesting, car drives like it always does, but it's like it's getting a 50shot at 6krpm... wtf.. feels nice, but, I'd like to move it down about 1~1.5k rpm so I can actually use it a little longer :p
