I believe that's the fuel vapour canister inside the air cleaner. Later emmissions requirements call for a fuel vapour canister.

Yeah its for a charcoal canister... The SA's have one, but the motor doesnt suck from it...

On a sidenote. Man that car almost brought tears to my eyes, I had one that looked exactly like that when I was 16, the car when I bought it had like 40,000 on it, opf course that was 16 years ago. Actually I kept it up till last year, it was so rusted and screwed up. I think I have betrayed my first love, by allowing that to hapen to it
