Question Attention Canadians?

Hey guys
I'm kinda new to the RX-7 game, and since i have an 83 and therefore it doesn't need to pass emissions tests anymore, I'm thinking headers, and full exaust, without cats. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas where i can obtain these in canada, besides ordering off the net. Thanks alot guys!

Cheers

'cause he's in Ontario where even retiring politicians don't go away, and you're in BC where serving politicians drive drunk and will probably vanish...

as to where to obtain an exhaust system, in Western Canada you can get a Racing Beat complete exhaust kit for about the price of what it'd cost you to ship one up from the US, but without the paperwork hassles, from RX-7 Specialties in Calgary. I believe there's an Ontario RB dealer as well - have you talked to Chris over at CP Racing?

It's True

In Ontario, once a car is 20 years old, it's considered an "antique", and is exempt from emissions testing. My 82 failed miserably in 2001, and the maximum amount had to be put in to get a conditional pass, but in 2002, they said I no longer have to take the test. My "antique" 7 is great!

Yup... they're testing even years this year, and next year your 83 will be past the 20 year cutoff.

The Ontario RB dealer is Mazdees in Toronto.

Yeah you can go to Mazdees. When I talked to the guy there he kept trying to convince me to spend more on a mandrel bent SS setup (gee).

If I could redo my exhaust I'd go racingbeat..(yes shipping & duty suck.)

I'd actually just buy the header & the cat (presilencer with the pickup tube for the 6-ports) and get a local shop to manufacture the rest. Then again mine's a 6-port GSL-SE.

Right now I have a 2.5" hi-flow setup with a cat and with the stock manifold and it's LOUD.

Good luck,

I would also recommend just buying the header. The rest you could get a shop to make. For my -SE i just bought the header and got everything else custom made. 2 1/4" into cat and 3" Presilencer then a Vibrant Muffler, its ******* loud, even with a cat and a Presilencer. Just make sure to get a good muffler, thats one of the most important points in keeping sound down. I went cheap and got a Muffler for Hondas and it has all burned out, but atleast i know its free flowing.

interesting setup.

I didn't get a presilencer..just went to a hi-flow cat and then out to a high-flow muffler with big tips. Mine's 2.5" all the way back. I find it's a bit too big and much too loud.

I guess you're opening your 5th and 6th off the airpump. Out of curiousity, what rpms does yours start opening at?

The racingbeat header is definitely in my future..

You gotta pic of your setup?

I'm thinking of redoing mine. Mine don't start opening until 4200rpm. THe airpump hose is so short & curved it's tough to work with so I was thinking of cutting a hole and epoxying a nozzle into the hole and sealing it instead of trying to insert a straight Tee into a curved hose. Also do you have a ball-valve or equiv. attached to adjust the pressure?

Cheers,
