IL Areas of non-blended gas

http://pure-gas.org/

For those who do not know this should give the location to the US and Canada rx7 owners where they can buy 87 octane or better with it being ethonal blended. This could become a sticky hopefully, if there is a station near you please add it to the list.

What difference does it make?

About 150k miles of personal RX-7 experience says that they run on E10 just fine. So does everything else. I've never used anything but, since that is all you've really been able to get where I live since at least the mid-80s.

All of the horrible things people say happen just. don't. happen.

BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA!

Well between my 95 bronco, the wifes grand am, and the family escape. With blended fuel over nonlended fuel I will break it down for you based on my personal experiance
95 Bronco 351 auto 170,000 miles Blended fuel 14 highway 11 city no blended 17 highway 12 city
03 Grand am GT 3.4 auto 93,000 miles Blended 21 mixed driving/regular 27 mixed driving
05 Esape v6 AWD auto 160,000miles Blended 22 mixed driving/regular 26 mixed driving

These are with me driving them and what I have noticed, also I did not say regular was bad compared to blended fuel(s). I was posting this so people could make a choice based on what they prefer as some prefer blended or regular.

I've actually noticed a difference in my car too. I wonder, since it's carbureted, having no means of adjusting fueling for the slight difference, it is noticeably leaner. Although I never did any fuel mileage testing with the 2, the car ran better on pure gasoline. My fuel injected cars don't seem to care which fuel I run.

i prefer to fill up on nonblended before winter storage, as ethanol absorbs water

My DD is a Dodge Ram with a Cummins so i don't need to worry until it's time to run the cars at the track. But, here is my experience with blended fuel. I had a completely new fuel system on one of the race cars, new cell all the way to the carb. I bought 6 gals of 87 octane from a Marathon station that is always busy. I dumped it in the car, fired it up. everything fine. I put about 45 minutes on the engine checkeing for leaks etc.

Fast forward 2 weeks. The car has been undisturbed, I start it up, it runs for about 20 seconds. Trouble shooting takes me through the entire ignition system, all good. I look down the Weber carb and see if I'm getting fuel. I see beads of liquid on the throttle plates, WTF???

I open the carb, its full of water!? I split the line and hit the pump and fill a 40 oz big gulp cup with greenish white fluid...twice. Its water with some premix oil dye. I pump it until I get actual gas and the car fires back up.

So with 6 gals and two weeks of sitting my ethanol blended gas settled out over 60oz of water. I've never had THAT much water in fuel before. The fact it had a white tint tells me it was mixed with alcohol.
