Another Tire Question

Im looking for a new set of 13" tires for my 1980. I have read all the Old posts but couldn't find an answer to my question.

I will be participating in a few lapping days this summer and am looking for tires that will perform well on the street and on the track. I cant afford a set of R rated tires but would like the next best thing.

Cheers, Alex

Kumho 712, 711
Yokohama A520
Falken Azenis

a few very good street tires, which perform well on the track.

The Sumitomo HTR 200, available in more than one size for our 13x5.5 rim. I got a set of 205/60/13, which are a little wide. A 195/60/13 would be prime. These tires are absolutely great in the rain, and very good in the dry. Be warned, they will wear quickly if your driving style is loose. These tires work well until they heat up, and they they lose some traction. Very predictable break-away however, and easy to drive at the limits.

I hope you aren't attached to traction. My HTR's got hard when the temps got close to freezing, I really wouldn't want to try them below freezing.

This is dumb, but when I bought my first RX7 it had Michlin RainForce MX4's 185 70 R13.

I relly liked this tire for my FB.

I have Kumho el-cheepo tires on my new FB and it does not handel nearly as well as the other one did with the MX4s on it

any way just anoter opinion

Yea you aren't kidding, holy hell, theres a good 5 inches of snow on the ground and just coming the mile and half home from work an hour ago was hell, I didn't stop spinning the whole way, no joke. All the tricks that usually work, like short shifting it and lugging in 4th didn't do ****. Man I've gotta get new tires, and fast. As for below freezing you can definaly feel decresed traction at first, but once they heat up its fine.

I may have found a company that will make aluminum wheels in our bolt pattern. Sixteens, seventeens and eighteens. Just trying to convince them to get the offset correct.
