Another project rx7, nothing special.

I see other people posting thier project cars on here So im gonna do the same, nothing special, mostly stock 1979 rx7, need paint and a whole bunch of interior work. I live in Wenatchee WA, "aka Podunk WA" bought the car for $400, it was pretty much stripped when I got it with all of the parts in the car. Makes it really fun to put back together when you didn't take out the parts, and the monkey who owned it before me did not believe in marking parts. I plan to convert to manual, I really hate auto's but I liked the car, It obviosly needs paint, and some tlc. I am going to re-vynal the dash myself instead of paying $60-80 for one new. plus I get a color I want. The ac was already removed but I have all of the parts. I need to find a few little things, the hinges for the sunroof, various *****, Basically I need to find a parts car that is in better condition. The body has no rust and is in good condition, minor dings and only a couple. I will post pics of the interior next.

Interior pics, I have a new digital cam on the way so I can take more pics if anyone cares. there is also a pioneer mp3 player in the gaping hole of a dash now. YAY. and stock recycled paper speakers replaced with 120W pioneer 2 way speakers in the back.

Good luck with your project. I would like to see pictures of the dash after you put the vinyl on it.

One tough junkyard dog, Oh yeah! That would be her sitting on command with my hand in the pic. Here also "and off topic" are the other cars that we own, The 05 scion is my wifes and the red piece of crap back there is mine until the RX-7 is fully drivable. At least the tiburon is a 5-speed. My wife bought the scion before our dealership even had the 5-speed models so she is stuck with the auto if we ever swap it, though it is nice while in seatle and for long trips. If you have ever drivin one they still have nice power for the automatics.

My uncle is going to help me with the vinyl, my plan is to remove the dash, and remove what vinyl I can, if it doesn't want to go without taking the foam I will just remove the high spots, fill the cracks with great stuff, sand it down, Clean, use some 3m vinyl adhesive and redo the dash.

I've always heard you shouldn't post a "Beware of dog" sign...you're basically admitting you have a mean dog and if anything happens, you'll be liable.

Oh, nice project...original seats! And make sure you get that antenna switch installed right side up!

Good luck!

Yeah the monkey who owned the car before did all of that, I looked online and my antenna switch controls my headlights up and down, and well I have no antenna so the antenna switch is not hooked up. As for the signs that lets people know not to enter and that they have been warned if they are bitten.

Also, I have read some of the rx-7's are running their cars to 8000 rpms, My 79 says 7k for the redline, I also noticed that ther are more numbers under the rpms, after 8k norm it goes to 10-14 under that like it wraps around??? I read the specs online and my cars redline is 7k according to that. Another person said they can go higher? I don't always take the word of another person and have not ran the car above 6k as It needs a tuneup BAD. It is quite loud just at 6, let alone redline. By other people I mean people on the forums here.

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you God luck and keep us posted. I would really like to see that dash when it is done. I have heard that the pros use a vaccuum method to seal the dash.
