Almost in!

Not going to post a pic, but after many rainy afternoons and a lot of long days at work, I finally had time to drop my "new" engine/tranny into my baby. I had to kludge the beehive back on since nobody in town stocks anything to make the lines needed to use the air-cooled oil cooler, but in theory, I reconnect the wiring harness, battery, cooling lines and radiator and I'll be running again!

Wish me luck! I'm about to be on the road again!

Damn straight I miss her - been almost 3 weeks now! Since it's a freshly rebuilt engine, I have to break it in, but after that, it's open season.

Then I'll get 2 rotor housings and a replacement rotor and assemble a spare streetported engine. WHEEEE!

Wow you made short work of that! How long ago did it die? Seems like it was just last week to me.

It died last Tuesday. Felt much longer though. After diagnosing it as a blown apex seal, I spent the next few evenings gutting the engine and on Thursday (Friday?) night pulled it and put it in my Van. Sunday Carl and I dismantled it and discovered my front rotor was toast and the rotor housings were junk. Sunday night I cruised here and mazspeed posting for parts, and found the engine/tranny posted Saturday on the partstrader. Called him Sunday night, arranged to head out the next day. This past Monday I got the engine/tranny and goodies in Orlando, then had way too many rainy days to get anything done. Friday I dropped my tranny, Friday night I toyed with the geometry to see if the header could stay on, and this afternoon I dropped it in. There's not much left to do but the sinus pressure is making it near impossible to do this with the modest heat outside...

Damn Florida colds. Last day of winter it was 94 down here...

And now, she runs again!

I blew one of the oil cooler lines (beehive) and had to get a replacement.

I hadn't realized that the previous owner of the engine had put ATF in it when he knew it was going to be sitting for a while. I was unprepared for the sheer volume of smoke pouring out. Coupled with a leaking intake manifold, I ended up putting my intake/carb on the new engine.

time without my baby - 12 days. Seemed like a short eternity though. Tomorrow morning I put on the hose, change the plugs and drive for 495 miles

pratch, you are not gonna believe this but I built that motor! I live in Casselberry and I built it for my "friend" (the big cuban guy) who couldnt get it running right and I havent heard from him since he "borrowed" my chain to pull it out of his car. He wasnt supposed to sell that intake and carb as I let him "borrow" that too to get it running. Oh well, we all get screwed at some point, but I can assure you that you have a good setup. P.M. me if you want details on the engine.
Jsin.

Congrats on the project running again.....

I would go insane without a running car to tear up the town with.

Jason, the intake is somewhat leaky, and the carb appears to have mildly gummed floats. Rather than use the mallet trick to unstick the carb or try to find why the ACV port was collecting fluid - I swapped them for mine.

Both are available (not on my car at present) if you want them back. Also, I presume it was you who recommended the ATF in the engine if he wasn't going to run it. He didn't tell me about it, but I appreciate it since it likely kept things in good shape.
