Air pump question
Air pump question
I know there are plenty of threads on the air pump removal, but I'm not doing the rats nest removal yet. So, to just take out the air pump itself can I just snip the belt for it and plug any hoses going to it?
If you do decide to remove the air pump, you need to replace the belt with a smaller one.
To original poster:
This is covered in most of the threads regarding the removal of the air pump. :-)
Quoted from Kansas City:
Unless you have a header, don't remove the air pump. Without the air pump, the catalytic converter will burn out and there is a possibility that the apex seals can go bad with the extra heat.

Like they said, you will need to pull your cats off, and get an ACV blockoff plate for your intake manifold. I never tried any of the various methods of running another belt over your water pump pulley, but that's because I always went to e-fan at the same time.
This is exactly why I was asking. I've read a ton of threads, but I missed out on the cat. "over" heating. Not to mention m ost of the threads also consist of the rats nest removal, which I'm not doing yet.
Anyway, my belt for the airpump is loose and I just wanted to see if I could just do away with it.
Thanks
