Air pump question
I know there are plenty of threads on the air pump removal, but I'm not doing the rats nest removal yet. So, to just take out the air pump itself can I just snip the belt for it and plug any hoses going to it?

If you do decide to remove the air pump, you need to replace the belt with a smaller one. |
To original poster:
This is covered in most of the threads regarding the removal of the air pump. :-) Quoted from Kansas City: Unless you have a header, don't remove the air pump. Without the air pump, the catalytic converter will burn out and there is a possibility that the apex seals can go bad with the extra heat. |
Like they said, you will need to pull your cats off, and get an ACV blockoff plate for your intake manifold. I never tried any of the various methods of running another belt over your water pump pulley, but that's because I always went to e-fan at the same time.

This is exactly why I was asking. I've read a ton of threads, but I missed out on the cat. "over" heating. Not to mention m ost of the threads also consist of the rats nest removal, which I'm not doing yet.
Anyway, my belt for the airpump is loose and I just wanted to see if I could just do away with it. Thanks |
