Air/fuel q's

I was thinking of a K&N, not sure if local stores would have em but its not too much $

My filter is black at the top, kinda clean bottom like half n half lol... So I flipped it. Does it really matter that it got dirty like that or can it last much longer? Also is the stock carb hat a bad design or good if you ran a pipe to get fresh air (does it even help

I was reading a few times that the FB fuel pump is weak and switch to a higher psi one (saw one at a site that said a great upgrade for all stock 12a's) is that really true or should I rewire the fuel pump instead? Not sure if it'd help but I remember my brothers SA everything was powered weakly. I've already noticed that on some stuff lol, small wires

k&n makes lots of different sizes of filters besides what the stores carry. they should have a listing for the 7 but if not, just take measurements of what u have and they can look in a catalog for one with similar dimensions. as for the pump, the stock one is like 3-4 psi. a higher psi pump will just over power the needles in the carb that shut off the flow when the bowl is full. u'll need to also add a pressure regulator.

FB uses huge wires compared to a new car....

stock air cleaner is fine, if you want to improve it, you can stick a 3" pipe on it, and get some colder air from the front of the car.

i'd skip the k&n, a stock paper filter is fine.

the stock fuel pump doesnt have enough VOLUME if you raise the hp, so to upgrade you need a larger VOLUME pump, with the carburator, pressure needs to stay low
