The adapters I believe are available thru Auto Zone. Also the 2nd gen 86-88 ones will work.

i think what im going to do is cut a piece of metal that is the same shape of the mass air flow box thing i think it is like 4x2 1/2 inches outside and 3 1/2x2 inches inside diameter so it think about a 3 inch piece of tubbing bent do the inside diameter welded to a flange that the size of the dementions above and do that 3 inch pipe to cone filter and that should be it might even go through the right radiator plate and do a true cold air intake not that it will matter any

the best filter idea for a SE is just to get a K&N box filter.

^ +1. The GSL-SE already has a cold intake - why change that just to suck hotter air from the exhaust manifold side of the engine bay?

It's probably not much work at all. Because most models have the provisions or holes for other accesories and what not. I wouldn't put it past Mazda that the holes for the the mounting points for the stock air box are already there on your GS model. If you want I can take a picture of the mounting points for reference.
There was a recent thread or post from a member that did one of the sweetest actual CAI that I have seen.
He used some Intercooling piping that he had.

Been there done that with my GSL SE, "no improvement in performance or sound!". Waste of money! Just go with a K&N panel filter in the stock air box and utilize the stock cold air intake.

Of the three mounting points for the stock SE airbox, one is screwed to the airflow sensor which you already have, one is a small L bracket screwed to the inner fender, and one is a larger bracket screwed to the right rad support. 4 screws and you're done.

K&N drop-in replacement FTW
