Air cleaner assembly

I have an air cleaner assembly that's dirtier than a pig's *** on Fat Tuesday. Would this affect the performance (or startability) of the car any?
Thanks

I would think so. Since the dirt is acumulating you would think it'd stop air flow from getting into the intake. Clean it up and get a replacement filter.

Well, it's a brand new filter, but, yeah, I'll clean it up.

Yes...Very...remember, rotaries love to breathe freely... If its as dirty as you say it is than you are for sure losing some power from it. I suggest getting a new filter and cleaning out any dirt or grime thats in there.

Okay, well i dont think that would affect the performance unless the dirt was getting sucked onto the filter. Y ou clean it anyway though

Okay, there's a helluva lot of really black, really stubborn crap on the Assembly. Tell me this is normal please. And it's in the tube connections too (as well as dirt )

Gunk in the vacuum line connections could be buggering up something enough to cause starting issues. It may not be bad, but dirt is certainly not good, clean it.

If you're married- do the purple power thing outside...

If you're single- put that bastard in the dishwasher!

Pics coming soon. AFter taking the pictures, the camera showed me a lot of rather large grease globs that I somehow managed to not see before. Once I can get more greased lightning and paper towels, I can finish it off!
Please note, there was VERY little blue visible when I started.
