Limited Restore - Day 2

Well we have:

-Checked and flushed the fuel system, fuel pump good and strong.
-New fuel filter
-Cleaned carb bowls and throat
-Ran ~4oz MMO through engine and rotated it out through leading spark plug holes
-Checked points, cap and rotor all look new
-Electrical system checks out ok
-Brakes, rusted, but lines are good and they all work after we broke them loose. A brake job is in the near future, but have to get tires before we can go anywhere anyway.
-Clutch master and slave work fine
-Good pressure and no visible leaks in Brake Master Cylinder

Do I have to wait until next weekend to start her up? The engine was not seized at all and I am just itching to turn that key!

Thanks,
Ilesha

I just did this on my 'new' 74 REPU and it started right up and has worked fine since. I didn't wait the week because the engine turned freely. YMMV.

Why did you run MMO through the engine that way if it's not seized?

I would certainly flush the brakes ASAP. Must be heroic amounts of water mixed in by now which will mean the rust will be working overtime. What about the Tranny and Diff? The gear oil will be sludge by now...not something you want to be buzzing around with. Do your RX a fav an swap in some Amsoil or Redline (heck, regular ol' gear oil would be better than nothing!) Coolant?? yank the rad (easy) and get it professionally flushed and dunked -gotta be pretty clogged with calcium deposits by now! - then use 50/50 coolant with distilled H20. Great time to swap out all the hoses! - including the one from the firewall to the rear of the engine (under the oil filter) - high failure rate because its immersed in oil from filter changes. Oh, a new thermostat and rad cap too. Limited is a pretty special car (I have an 80 GS) so its worth some TLC-
enjoy!

Thanks Stu!
The brakes will be done as soon as the parts come in. The Radiator is in very good shape considering the duration of her storage. I did change all the fluids and filters before we stored her and filled her with straight collant and it was a realatively new radiator. The diff looks like it has ozzed out all the fuild so that is the project for this weekend while we wait for tires and other parts. I wasn't really prepared for her to be running this soon so hadn't ordered anything. We'll work on fluids, blets and hoses this weekend and she'll go in for a complete brake overhaul and safety inspection as soon as the tires are in.
Thanks for all your input, I know we will overlook something and your suggestions are keeping me on track.
