Aftermarket Fusible link question

Has anyone used the Beck Arnley fusible links? Do they fit directly into the slots for the old, wire type links.. or is there some modifications..thanks.

either upgrade to 2nd gen or grab a blade type fuse and female connectors.

Is there somewhere with a write up on this? Is it difficult? I just fried my fusible links in my engine bay today.

If your car is 'down' right now, strip the insulation off the blown fusible link and twist the two ends of the wire together. This way, you still have a fusible link protecting the circuits...

I have no battery in right now, so I think it will be alright.

Due to reversing polarity is there anything else that could have fried?? My alternator is OK I believe, but I think the battery might be hurting a bit.

I reversed my battery and fried the fusible link too.

I jerry rigged the link by twisting the ends together and have run it like that for 2 years with no other problems to report.

The link blew like it was suppose to and nothing else was damaged.

I put in the aftermarket fusible links.. They fit directly in the slots for the wire type. 30 amp on the top and bottom and a 60 amp in the middle.. They work too, because the headlight one blew when I accidentaly shorted to ground while putting the car back together.. This solution is much easier than the 2nd gen solution.. and only 3 bucks each.

Awesome, thanks, you guys are a great help!

Dom, I feel dumb, but not really because new cars will sound the horn instantly when the polarity is reversed, I guess they didn't think of that in 1983...they figured the smoke would be enough of a sign LOL
