Talking After eight long months.......

My GSL-SE Finaly runs, yes after eight months and as best I can figure about $5,500 ( 3.9% fixed APR through 2005, thank you Visa) the thing started up on the very first try
The thing seems to run smooth but it does idle a little loopy and shakey. It's a six port 13B street ported with a RB 16lb. flywheel. I need to double check the timing with a light which is probably part of the problem, but I was wondering if I should expect a rough idle in general with these mods?
I also premixed a little mmo with the first tank of gas to hold me over untill I get the metering pump set right, good idea or bad on a new engine?

any advice on break in and timing would be appriciated

- Alex

It depends on the street port, but in general the idle will be more lumpy. What speed is it set to idle? What intake are you using?

I don't have experience with the Holley. My porting is similar if you've also removed the secondary port sleeves. My idle is set to 900 rpm with S5 fuel injection and it's definitely lumpy.

Yup, all six ports all the time, how's the low end with your setup?

Low end is about the same as a stock S5 engine. Midrange is much stronger and high end is much, much stronger.

Follow the link in this thread to my dyno test. This was a test in Denver so air density is down about 13%. At sea level, the power should be about 13% greater.

167 RWHP is impressive, that's about what I'm hopeing for (even though you have lighter rotors and haltech injection)

mods so far include
-Street ported 13B from Atkins
- RB holley 600 w/RB manifold
-RB header & full exhaust
- E fan
-RB light flywheel
-center force clutch

hopefully if I get it tuned right I'll be someware in the ball park of your HP figures.
I bet yours is fun as hell to drive, do you have any 1/4 mi. times?

It's as fast as I'll ever want it to be. It FEELS faster than a 3rd gen just because it's so light and not as well buttoned down to the road. With this much power, going over broken pavement in a corner can be a delicate dance. I don't know acceleration times, I have a g-tech but haven't made any runs with the car yet.

Thats what I wanted to hear, get some times with that G Tech I would be very interested to see some numbers.
I wont be ripping on mine until I get about 1,000 mi. on it, and until I get the brakes working
