Acc Pump

Ok I have tryed tuning and tuning and no matter how much i tighten or losten the nut when i give it gas it stumbles ALOT. I have rebuilt the carb and put a new gasket in it but still the same prob. Is there something else that can go bad? Anyone know/have pics of a stock nikki carb with all the hoses connected (all but the rats nest) I need to refrence off it and make sure the hoses left are in the right stop. also how do i take the vac 2ndarys off, i have done the mech mod could this be the prob?

Edit: when the choke is closed it doesnt stumple, when the car warms up it does. Also when i slowly give it gas it stumbles 1out of 10 times. I not trying to floor it when in giving it gas, just trying to get going and it has a huge stumble.

The accel pump diaphragm might be too old and brittle to provide a proper squirt. You'll have to inspect and replace as needed.

Or the checkballs are not seating well enough to seal.
Are you getting a healthy squirt from each nozzel?

yeah the squirt is fine, the car runs perfect when the choke is closed. I just replaced the fuel filter, the fuel pump is working and i have the regulator set to 2psi. I turned the nut on the Acc pump and just started tuning ( dont guess i "losened" it enuff the first time) it in and its gotten alot better but stil not perfect. I just rebuild the carb so the diaphram is fine. The acc pump IS NOT leaking gas so its not bad. Not only that but im back firing now, is this due to runing rich?

On a side note, I have done the mech 2ndarys mod how do i take the vac off? I dont know the tech. name for the parts on the carb so pics would be nice. Thanks for your help guys.

First of all I would address the rough idle problem, which from what I can see you have not done. Something is not right, probably a vacuum leak of one sort or the other, and trying to adjust mixture or idle speed over it is a waste of time. Once you have that one handled the poor acceleration problem might be gone or at least it will be easier to diagnose.

Well, be4 i took the rats nest off it had the same prob, after removing the nets I replaced every hose used with a new one. So where could the vac leake be? The carb? I have also sprayed tons of carb cleaner around the carb with no luck. Im just gonna get a new carb and see how it works out.

well, it could be in one of the block off plates in the intake manifold. Check again. Also other causes for a rough idle exist. I posted them recently. Check those as well.
