yeah take off the cap from the compressor and let it out slowly. mine didn't have freon apparently and my air just leaked out, so it may not be the same. but seriously i just did this not even a week ago, and it was a pain in the a$e! haha. i ended up hacksawing my ac lines, and ripping out my condenser and dryer/reciever, or blower/reciever or whatever it's called. either way, it's out and im happier because of it. also when you take off the compressor be sure to take off the iron metal bracket. that thing weighed damn near what the compressor weighed, and it's only the bracket that held it up. it felt like i lifted my car of like 50lbs.

Can I take that bracket off if I have power steering? It looks like it holds the pump for that, too.

i don't see how you can really get into driving one of these cars WITH power steering. it takes away so much road feel. power steering bad. ac bad.

yea power steering blows. like everyone said just let the freon out. My GS didn't have hardly any left in it, so no biggie. All my lines were stuck on there good so I just tore it all out, not like anyone needs it anyway.

About time, lol.

Will simply removing the ps pump from a ps car, make it just like a non-ps car?

having the freon recovered is proper method and it should be done at an A/C service shop, as it requires special equip. For us USers (accidently) venting freon into the atmosphere carries a $25,000.00 fine.
shhh the EPA might be listening.

I believe the ratio is different with a PS car.

How's that 13b conversion going?
