Update on my car repair!!!
The car is half way fixed at the shop and I received my information from the insurance company. They want to total the REX!!!! The adjuster quoted $3100 to fix her.
Here is the breakdown from the company:
NADA Value: $1900
Market Value: $2440
Average of the two $2170
Show car restored add $1800
Value of 7 = $3998.00
I have 3 options per Connecticut law.
Option 1: They take the car.
Car Value: $3998.00
6% Tax: $239.88
Less deductable: -$500
Total to me: $3737.88
Option 2: I keep the car.
Car Value: $3998.00
Less deductable: -$500
Less Scap Value: -$64.92
Total to me: $3433.08
I will then have to have the title salvage, flat bed it after repair 100 miles to an inspection station (who knows how much $). Document the entire repair process with like 25 pictures. Pass the inspection ($98). Re-register the car with the state ($125). Then apply for a new title.
Option 3: Keep the car.
Have the adjuster and my autobody guy rework the quote so it fits his specs for repair. Resubmit it to the insurance company and receive my check minus the $500 deductable. My guy said he needs $2000 to make it worth his while, so if they work it to $2500 I'm clear and free.
I will be taking option 3!
The insurance company realy wanted to work with me, so I would highly recommend AIG to anyone.
My autobody guy will even fix the rust around the left fender as a bonus!!!

that's awesome.... almost makes the accident worth while, doesn't it? Similar thing happened to me with my old jetta.... I made a 700 profit out of an accident.
what did you need to qualify for the 'show car restored' portion of the money?
what does AIG stand for?

AIG is the insurance companies name. As for qualifing for the show car, it was just in awesome shape and the adjuster was a real nice guy and wrote it up real nice. Plus I had receipts for verything that was ever done to the car from me and the previous owner.

Drj. Ct law says it has to be flatbeded to the DMV. Your car is no longer registered once it says salvage. They state on there web page that no tire can touch the ground, not even towing it. They will not even look at the car unless its on that truck. These guys are tuff, even if you drive it there and get a local flatbed they will question why aq local guy has your car on the truck. You have to drop the coin and get the flatbed.
