TX 85 GSL Won't Idle

I have a 1985 GSL with a stock carburetor. I got into a situation where the car wasn't used for a while and the gas in it went bad (yeah, I'm an idiot).
I took the following steps to remedy the situation:
  1. Removed the old gas
  2. Replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, oil and filter
  3. Replaced the ignition coils (they'd needed replacing for a while)
  4. Put fresh gas in and was able to get the car running. However, there was a hiccup when accelerating past 3000 RPM.
  5. Decided that I needed to re-build the carburetor to clean out the crap from the bad gas.
  6. While I had the carburetor out, I figured I'd go ahead and replace the shutter valve.
  7. I also figured I'd replace the vacuum hoses while I was in there in case there was a leak.
  8. I got the carburetor back in the car and was able to get it running and was happy that the 3K hiccup was gone.
  9. I set the idle speed and adjusted the timing.
  10. I took the car out for a drive and it seemed to be working well. At one point I made a left turn (city streets so not a crazy fast turn) and the engine stalled.
  11. I was able to restart it (didn't even need to stop the car) and drove it back home.
  12. The engine was still idling fine after getting it home.
  13. The next day I decided to adjust the dashpot thinking that it might have been the problem with the stalling.
  14. I also figured I'd start going through the various tests listed in the shop manual in case that might shed light on the stalling issue. I decided to do the run the 2 tests on the Relief Solenoid valve since they didn't require the engine to be running or warmed up; it passed.
  15. I started the car and warmed up the engine. As soon as I pushed in the choke, the RPM when down and the engine died.
  16. I've tried adjusting the mix and idle but that doesn't help.
  17. I removed the carburetor and cleaned all the jets again thinking that they might have gotten clogged but it hasn't helped.
  18. I've checked the float levels and they're both in the middle (when the engine is running and after it stalls).
I'm running out of ideas so I was hoping someone smarter than me might have some ideas as to why my engine won't hold idle.

-Have you checked for any vacuum leaks?
-When you rebuilt the carb, did you adjust the float levels?
- Have you messed with the mixture screw much?
-Stalling when turning makes me think the float bowls are running low on gas in turns from a misadjusted float or a sticking needle in the seat.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I checked the float levels both when the engine was running and after it died and in both cases the levels were right in the middle.
I've replaced most of the (smaller) vacuum hoses so I'm assuming those aren't leaking but I guess it can't hurt to check.
When I rebuilt the carb, I verified that the floats were OK and since they looked OK, I didn't make any adjustments.
Initially I didn't do much with the mixture screw but after not being able to keep the engine running, I've tried tweaking it a little and then tried turning them all of the way in and backing them out 3 and 4 turns, again no help.
I also suspected the float levels and/or sticking needle as the culprit for the stalling during a turn which is why I checked once I got the car back home. Given that I can no longer keep the engine running while sitting in my garage and the float levels always look good made me think that perhaps the needle sticking was a temporary thing.
