85 gs won't start help plzz

Back story: I bought an 85 gs from a guy in 2010. Was told at the time he blew the motor and his " buddy tried swapping a motor from a low mileage car that had been wrecked. The swap was never finished and half of it was put back in wrong anyway, so I pulled the motor back out and decided to clean the engine bay up and fix some body damage that the car had.

With the motor out is was partially disassembled ie. removed oil pan, oil plug near bottom of block, coolant plug near bottom of block to drain all fluids. Front cover removed to measure oil pump. mmo in the intake ports spark plug holes and exhaust and left to sit to decarbon the engine. Motor was painted and put back together.

Whats been done to motor; Blocked off intake coolant passages and intake exhaust port. Ported intake manifold and removed all emmisions. Switched to fmoc. Stripped/modified carb. Pacesetter header.

Motor has compression, spark and plugs are wet when I checked them. Dizzy was put in on first timing mark with marks lined up and I checked to see if I put the from pulley on wrong by checking to make sure it also lines up with the flat on the flywheel.

What am I missing?

Spark plugs are wet... I'd pull one plug at a time and verify that they spark if you haven't done so already. If it was full of MMO/carbon gunk/etc it may have just fowled them out on the first go-around.

I pulled the leading to make sure they were sparking and ordered a new set for CYA purposes.

So you know it's sparking, and you got your timing lined up so you know it's sparking at the right time. I'd have someone crank it while I peeked down the carb to see if any fuel is spraying into the primary venturis. Wet plugs may again just be the MMO/excess oil and not fuel. Did they reek of gasoline?

When all else fails, starter fluid!

Maybe getting too much fuel. Were the primary jets changed? I would cut the fuel supply to the carb and crank it until it runs dry. If it's getting too much, it'll start to fire as the fuel level in the bowls starts to fall below the level of the jets. If you can cut all fuel and it won't fire up with starter fluid, then look to your ignition system.

check your spark plugs, they should have a tan/brown insulator. Metal parts should be clean as in not oily.

Filling the carb from a bottle so I'm letting it empty. But we've been cranking it so long there's a puddle below the header lol. The plugs r sparking and I don't know how else to try the dizzy.

When you say the flat on the flywheel do you mean the cut away spot or the counter weight material spot

Well I figured out the problem and sometimes I feel like an idiot. The front pulley wasn't on right. It was aligned with the cutout of the flywheel and I thought that was the "flat" on the flywheel.

But even after setting the timing it seems to be difficult to start, but could be because of how long it's sat.

Put some seafoam in the tank and drive it like you just robbed a 7/11. Might wake it up a bit.

I plan to but first I have to get the tank repaired. Car sat for 7 years with gas in the tank to it got dropped and I was running the carb from a bottle. Runs great just doesn't like to start lol. But that could also be caused by the hogged out intake. For now I've started on the body from work were the previous owners "friend" tried drift the car.
