84 rear suspension question

My question pertains to the lower links of the rear suspension. I am building my own three link with panhard bar. I have read that the 84~85 years Mazda lowered the front lower link mount by 20mm. The big question is at stock ride height do the lower links angle down , level or angle up. I do understand that if it is level it gives neutral roll steer, if they angle down (from back to front) it will induce roll under steer.. ??

Thank U
Robert

IIRC At stock ride height and stock size tires they're pretty close to flat.

I had to raise the back of my car significantly to get them level. Series 3s suck that way.

And if the lower links are not level, you get weird roll-steer effects, which is what Mazda was aiming for, but they get amplified when you go to a 3 link and allow the rear suspension to actually move.

I was wanting to lower 3/4" from stock ride height. From my measurements I will have to lower the mounting point on the axle for the lower link 38~40mm ( 1.5"). This will level out the lower link...
It just seemed like a lot to get it level..
So am I safe to assume (on a S3) the lower link goes up hill causing roll under steer at stock ride height.

Sounds about right. They changed the link mount a hair over 3/4" lower, expressly to introduce roll understeer.
