83 gsl...What color is the dash at night?

Hey

What color does the dash light up on an 83 GSL?

I am going to look at one.......I like the 84 in red.....

Anything else that may be a pro or con on an 83 versus an 84/5?

Thanks

Jim

I think in anything over 80 (81+), the dashboard lights up an orangy-reddish color, and 79-80 is green.

My '79 has green lights, so...

'78-80 is green, '81-83 is some yellowish-amber color, '84-85 is a nice deep red.

Personally I like the way green-lit dials look, especially in deep-set pods like lots of cars had in the '70s... but the red is really nice too as it's easier to read and doesn't affect your night vision as much.

I like the amber orange color in my 83, blue would be cool, IMO

my needles are easy as pie to see at night, or maybe it's just that I don't look at them.. Speed limit? What speed limit?

The needles in my '80 did not light up either... it was VERY maddening. You had to guess the position of the needle by where the light wasn't showing.

won't have that problem once you've installed kilr's gauge faces. needle will show up as black against the glowing white.

true true...
i will also not have that problem when ever i get around to redoing my gauge cluster.. i am going to do a true custom setup (not just faces), actually all new gauges (and ones that read correctly at that)

I must be the only person who thinks white-face gauges look awful. Oh well...
