83 gsl...What color is the dash at night?
Hey
What color does the dash light up on an 83 GSL? I am going to look at one.......I like the 84 in red..... Anything else that may be a pro or con on an 83 versus an 84/5? Thanks Jim  |
I think in anything over 80 (81+), the dashboard lights up an orangy-reddish color, and 79-80 is green.
My '79 has green lights, so... Jeff |
my 83 GSL's lights are amber.
|
'78-80 is green, '81-83 is some yellowish-amber color, '84-85 is a nice deep red.
Personally I like the way green-lit dials look, especially in deep-set pods like lots of cars had in the '70s... but the red is really nice too as it's easier to read and doesn't affect your night vision as much. |
I like the amber orange color in my 83, blue would be cool, IMO
|
the green looks good.. only problem is that the needels donot light up, so it is hard to see at night
|
my needles are easy as pie to see at night, or maybe it's just that I don't look at them.. :) Speed limit? What speed limit?
Jeff |
hmmm. maybe mine are just really warn out, because i can hardley see them.
|
The needles in my '80 did not light up either... it was VERY maddening. You had to guess the position of the needle by where the light wasn't showing.
|
yup yup..
i was never that concerned, except for when i wanted to check the fuel guage. i hate trying to guess how much fuel i have left |

true true...
i will also not have that problem when ever i get around to redoing my gauge cluster.. i am going to do a true custom setup (not just faces), actually all new gauges (and ones that read correctly at that) |
I must be the only person who thinks white-face gauges look awful. Oh well...
