I have a glass sunroof thats smaller than normal and the latch is not the standard round ****. The latch is a pull down and push up. Does anyone else have this type of latch? Where can I get a replacement?Also I cant get my pictures on the site, it always says too many bytes, what can I do to get them on? thanks

 

That's a 79 only sunroof. I thought all 79-85 roofs were the same size but perhaps not. I have an extra 81+ (screw up type) roof I'd be willing to sell.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can attach the later model hardware to the 79 roof to make it work, every part is different.

 

The car is a 1985 GS and the sunroof looks stock.

 

Sounds like your car left the factory without a sunroof and someone added an aftermarket one sometime later. If you look, JC Whitless sells these and the latch looks roughly like what you're describing...

It was most likely added-on. The 80-85 cars had the screw in type(which i have never seen) But the 79 has a latch like you are talking about. I am also looking for another one, so if you find a replacment, and your not gonna get it tell me. Also if you would like I can take a picture of the latch i have. LATERZ, Andrew

My sunroof is definately stock. Even though everyone says its not. It even has the little holes where the water runs down. It is definately *stock*. Has to be.

I think you have an aftermarket roof, or someone went through the trouble to put a 79 factory one in... By the way I cut the roof outta my 85 and installed a factory roof

Like I said, the sunroof even has the channels under it to let the water run down and under the car. That must be stock.

oh well, guess i am stuck with it, beacayse i am not about to weld in a later model sun roof at this point
