'79 SA for $1600
Well I found a nice '79 SA over near my work. It has 80k original miles 0 dents and a tear in one seat in the leather interior. The paint is pretty good but I think I might get it painted. Anyway, I talked the guy down to $1,600 from the $2,000 he was asking for. Does this sound like a good deal to you all?

Leather interior? Does it by any chance have a "Limited" badge on it?
Seems like a decent price for a running car, with low miles. What options does it have? 5 speed, sunroof, alloy wheels ect.

Well here is one pic of it:

So yeh Just imagine that with a perfect interior (minus the tear in the driver side seat) and only 80,000 miles
Oh yeah let's see, it's a 5-spd, removable sun roof, (he has both the painted top and glass top) I didn't see a limited badge on it though. I'm gonna take it by a rotary specialist this week (just because) then I'm gonna buy it (can't wait to have it).
Not really sure on my plans for it: I'm going to try to keep it as stock as possible cosmetically. except maybe some tint on the windows. For the engine, I'm gonna keep it all japanese how it was meant to be.
Is it possible to get a turbo custom fitted maybe from another 12A? Like maybe if I found one at a pick-and-pull or something? Did they even make a 12A turbo? *sigh* I'm kinda a RX-7 n00b. I've mainly been a Nissan man. (I also have a '91 240sx SE)

Limited wheels look like this
And it would have badges that say Limited.
That Glass sunroof is worth about $150 just by its self.
Looks like a great buy.

This car looks in as good a shape as mine that I purchased new in Oct '78.
The (metal) sunroof (no glass sunroof provided by Mazda in '78), and wheel per the prior photo were provided on the GS model - although there's no GS badge per se on the car.
Looks like a great deal to me - please check out the A/C air volume and let me know if you think it's pushing enuff cold air at you. I'm in St Louis and am need of some add'l cold air.
I've started a corresponding question on the website regardind upgrading the A/C system / blower and rec'd a few responses.
Curious as to how 'your' '79 A/C system puts out.
Thanks

Yeah the rims looked quite similar to the ones in the pic I don't know if they said "limited" or not.
The A/C blows pretty strong but mine isn't that cold. It probably just needs a new shot of freeon I guess.
Anyway anyone know If I can custom fit a turbo from another 12a? did they make a 12a turbo?

Don't know if its the original engine - is it? I would think twice about a turbo on a 25 year old motor.
My 1980 (71K miles) is getting the Lads at PB and J Racing (pbandjracing.com) to put together one of their popular nikki (you stock carb) modified Sterling carbs and a ported manifold. Combine this with a nice Racing Beat (.com) street exhaust system and you would have a pretty quick SA. And for a lot less than a decent turbo kit. IMHO
Plus less stress on your rotor-motor.
You'll need a decent exhaust anyway, so the Racing Beat system is a wash, and the carb setup from P&J is about $450 with the manifold (educated guess - check the site).
Before you pour a ton of $$ into your engine compartment, you might want to take a hard look around the rest of the car first. Number One is there WILL be rust - check the rear fenders behind the wheels for starters. And rubber components: bet your various door, window, sunroof and hatch seals are shot. no point in a killer motor if the car around it is falling apart
And good for you wanting to keep it as stock-looking as possible. I think the really valuable 1st Gen RX7s will be the ones that are unmolested. Rather than plaster on all the eye-candy the modern ricers use, let the pure natural beauty of the SA22-C shine thru!! enjoy!
