747 noises???

What the hell is it that makes the engine sound like it has a 747 under the hood. Does it when I start up first thing and also sometimes cruising. Is it needed and how do you get rid of it??

are you referring to a fan/clutch?

They kick in when you first start the car, or when it begins to run warmer than it wants to.

What's wrong with the 747 noise? Use it to your advantage. Try convincing some little ricer kid that your car is actually propeller driven. Then, in typical ricer fashion, he'll go tell all his boys and so on until it gets back to you and by then your car has an F-16 powerplant!

Also if you pull the air line off the connection under the hood that goes to the catalytic converter, it kinda sounds like a blowoff valve

No catalytic converter. Is it better to have the hose that went to it blocked or open? Most of the kids around here are all show and no go. Also they took drivers ed so I suppose they are at a disavantage.

I know what you're talking about crankit, instead of the loud fan noise going away after it gets going it just says wide open all the time. REALLY annoying, all you hear is the fan not that sweet, sweet rotary buzz. I'm gonna put in a electric fan to solve this. I guess you could just get another fan clutch but you might as well free up a couple HP at the same time with the electric fan. Peace
