OK 50 to 65 mph rumble

Greetings all!

I have an SA22C with a Weber 45 DCOE and 85' dizzy and RB header with all emissions and AC removed. The car runs real well aside from some standard parts wearing out (namely the rear shocks), everything's pretty tight.

I've noticed that when I get up to 50 to 65 mph, regardless if i'm in 4th or 5th gear, my car seems to rumble, like I driving over very rough road and pushing in the clutch seems to make no change. Any ideas on this? it's fairly annoying as the rest of the car runs good for having over 200k on the body.

Checked the rear bearings and driveshaft ujoints? What about tire condition? Is there any way to tell what part of the car its coming from (front or back)? Lots of things can cause this, including bad trans mount

Tell me about it LOL

Seriously: I don't feel any abnormal vibration through the steering wheel OR the pedals. The tires are used but they are a matching set that were professionally mounted and balanced and the breaks are new as well. Should I be starting at the trans and working back? What would a look for when inspecting the drive shaft or the rear diff? I'm not afraid to spend money on my girl and I have an entire parts car with lower body miles to pull parts or compare to if I need. My plan had been to pull the rear end out of the parts car and rebuild it and slide it under Kaiju.

I would start by swapping in the driveshaft from your parts car and see if it changes the vibration. The driveshaft should be out of the car to check the u-joints. Swivel them back and forth in each direction to see if they move smoothly without play. If that does not change the vibration try the tranny mount next. You might want to replace the mount regardless. They are cheap.

B: You have NO idea! (well maybe you do) ever since I bolted that on, opened up the exhaust and swapped out the ignition for a more stable FB style set-up, I've embarassed several mustangs, countless Hondas and went nose to nose with a modified Rx8. And that was after I broke the throttle cable (so I only had 3/4 WOT) and had one rear break dragging. Short answer: doing business with you was the BEST decision I ever made for my SA. My ONLY regret was that I wasn't paying attention when your Coil overs went up for sale...

So far I've swapped out the rear shocks (one of which was completely blown) with a fresh set of KYB's, Then literally I was laid up with the flu THAT night, so I haven't had the chance to test them out yet.

I would lean towards the U joints also but if that's not the case make sure you have good fluid in the Differential. If that is low or full of metal dust I have had truck come into the shop with the same symptom and it ended up being the fluid in the rear end.

Heh i had a bad tire, switched my front to rear and it lowered the vibration. 2 weeks later parked it and saw belt showing randomly... Woops replaced and, smooth as ice...

Glad to hear you got it fixed, just as a side note what kind of exhaust do you have? Mine is a racing beat single header and rb muffler with no presilincer and I think its too stopped up.

RB race header (dual outlet) into Y pipe to straight pipe to old-*** stock muffler. It's gonna be true dual exhaust all the way back with side exits.... oh yeah. Still haven't fixed it. How do I know when my diff needs attention and what do I put back in it? LOL I was raised front wheel drive, can you tell?

It's probably safe to assume it hasn't been done in some time so I'd check the fill hole on top to make sure there is even fluid still in it and that its not low either. Pretty easy to drain and replace the fluid though. Forgot what exact fluid I used

Just put 80w90 in it with a little bit of LSD additive.
