it can be done. ask Pete. though it seems its best to use an FC front cover. this is an excerpt from his thread on the swap:

FC subframe is bolted in. That was actually very easy.

As soon as the SuperSecret Swap strut mounts come in, I can bolt in the FC struts.

I just need to put the FC column in (FB P/S column is the correct spline, but too short) and figure out how to hold the engine up.

Things are chuggin' right along...

Used-up, worn out junk. Well, the dampers are still good, for what that's worth. Not pictured: trashed gearbox.

I made these little boxes for the rear of the subframe to attach to.

Engine, transmission, front suspension, steering column...
It's more FC now than FB, twisted and evil.

The fab work is cool and all but i want some more options than having to use the FC engine packages, plus unless you have a manual rack which are not that easy to get ahold of the FC stuff is pretty crappy and prone to leaks. This is why I like using the Re-speed setup. additionally say i need a new rack because of the thousands and thousands of people using the same mustang components in hot rods i have alot of options.

The flip side of course is how much does it cost to pick up a clapped out FC to get these parts off of compared to the New Re-Speed components.

I will say I can't knock anyone for trying to make their car better though

Well I plan on auto-xing the car (since my first RX) and now that it is where I want it to be, I
just need to get the 6" of play GONE. That is the one thing I absolutely hate about this car, I
have done everything to get it out, and it is down to replacing the steering box or going
ReSpeed/FC swap. I would love to go ReSpeed, but simply cannot afford it

I like his swap, but it uses a S4 engine. Motor mounts on the center iron instead of the front
cover like the 12a.

I originally did the swap using a 12A front cover on the 13B.

There's no good way to do it that I could see. Here's the best that I could come up with, that would still clear everything on the driver's side:

I liked it so much, when I had the car drivable enough to take it home after work, I brought it right back and undid it!

The neatest way of doing a 12A with FC subframe is to use a GSL-SE center housing in the engine, and use two left-side FC engine mount brackets. The passenger side one would need some lengthening.
