2nd gen brake booster in a 1st gen
I have an 85 gsl-se and I planning on doing the big brake upgrade front and back. I am curious if a 2nd gen brake booster can be used in a 1gen.
Anybody using a 2nd gen brake booster with a big brake upgrade?
How do you like it, and was it worth the money and effort?

i have the respeed brake kits front and rear in my SA. i havent really put it to the test much, but this past weekend i took it to deals gap. i have the smallest booster made in a rx7, i definitely need more. it just feels like my brakes dnt have the power to push all of the calipers to their full potential.
i knw it can be done in an FB rather easily. search. it has been discussed before. for the SA its a whole different story. ill have to find a way though.

From what I've read it's such a tight fit with the stock holes that you have to loosen the clutch master so that you get enough wiggle room to make it work.
That's for the TII booster which is what you'd want to go with if you used an FC booster.
The mazda competition prep manual outlines a procedure for re-drilling the clutch master's holes so that it's moved like an inch to the side, but that's more complicated than just unbolting it and scooting it over a bit.
I've also heard that you need to use two spacers between the TII booster and the firewall.
I haven't tried it myself but I intend to, when I get around to upgrading my brakes.
I also remember seeing someone adapt a brake booster from an SUV... some KIA or something...
It'll be a tough search but I know there's at least one TII booster swap and that other SUV one here in the 1st Gen Section somewhere. Start with the archives and if it's not there, search the whole 1st Gen section

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Cool, thanks for the info and thread links vipernicus42. Looks like I will be spending even more money. I am going to upgrade the booster, big brakes front and back, converting to 5 lug, respeed rear coil over type suspension, respeed front coil overs, 17 inch enkei rpf1 wheels.
