2GCDFIS vs. DLIDFIS
Im wondering about the advantages of both
I know that the 2GCDFIS is generally cheaper, but in the paul yaw ignition article, I remeber reading how the stock 2nd gen coils have a prob with providing good spark at higher rpm's, cuaseing high rpm breakup
does DLIDFIS have a simialar prob, or does it supercede the 2GCDFIS in every way exept cost?

I'm not sure than any qualitative tests between the two have been conducted. I would think that DLIDFIS would have a decisive advantage if high quality aftermarket coils were used, rather than the stock Diamond coils. I don't think that the DLIDFIS system has any high RPM problems, certainly none that Jeff20B has found. My car was more willing to rev to redline with the new ignition system installed, so I don't think there is any limitation there.

MSD is the best, but far to expensive for me

the few times I have gotten up to 7 k with my 2G DFIS, I have had no problems whatsoever. I have done both methods and prefer the 2G setup becuase it is so much simpler. There is less crap in your engine bay to mess with.
It's all personal preference. If you have quesitons on either method, I'm sure any one of us who have done the mod will give you help either way.

No experience with DLIDFIS, but I did the 2nd gen leading coil thing last week and have been very happy. I spent $28 on ebay to get the coil. Spent another couple bucks on electrical connectors and self-tapping screws. It was easy and cheap and works.

I'll hook a 2nd gen leading coil to an MSD 6AL some day. It'll go on a half bridgeport engine so I won't overrev it. I also have a 2nd gen trailing coil and a leading ignitor. I think I'll hook them to trailing and see if it makes a difference.
I'm running low on 1st gen ignitors and distributors around here, what with all the engines I've been getting to run lately.
