254 mm flywheel

Ok, so ive been trying to figure out what flywheel i have.

I have an 83 rx7 with a 5 speed that came with a 12a, the 12a blew up so i bought a 13b. i put the 13b in the car and went to install the trans and its hitting the flywheel.

I measured the flywheel and its way bigger then what its supposed to have. The disc area measures out to 254 mm and the full size of the flywheel is over 300 mm. There is also no counter weight.

i would put the 12a flywheel on but i no longer have the motor, i sold it to help get the 13b.

It looks like you bought a 13b turbo engine which uses a 240mm clutch.

Post a few more pictures and we can help you identify exactly what engine you have.

You need to make sure you use the correct flywheel. The engine uses the flywheel to balance the engine as the rotor sets have different weights. If you use the incorrect flywheel for your engine, you could seriously damage the rotor bearings. Don't just go slapping any old flywheel on there that you want.

That flywheel doesn't even look like it fits that engine. Are you sure it's the correct flywheel for that engine. Like others have said, the flywheel must match the rotating assembly to ensure correct balance.

MazdaTrix has a page that tells how to identify a flywheel.

Just looked at OP other threads looks like it's a five speed . I didn't notice that the pilot bearing was missing good call.

No pilot bearing, large flywheel. I wonder if this is some sort of plate for an auto transmission
with the counterweight missing? Or maybe its just a random fly wheel that was thrown on there.

it's definitely from a 13bt or 13b msp. It only looks big when compared to the na flywheels. If he had a turbo bell housing it would fit no problem.
