215-60-13's on stock cross wheels

Anyone running this combo, and any rubbing issues? A freind just bought a 79 that has the crosses on it, and is considering this size tire. As far as I can tell, the suspension is totally stock, and does not *seem* to have any sagging issues from the springs. It looks like a 4x4 with a lift kit compared to my 83 with aftermarket springs.
He plans to use the car mainly for street driving, and an occansional autox. Can anyone offer some insight about whether there are clearance issues with the 215/60's, thanks.

Clearance and rubbing issues aside, I wouldn't mount anything wider than a 205 on a 5.5" wheel, and even then that's kinda pushing it.

Too wide for that rim, 215 mm is over 8", the tire walls will be stretched very tight to fit, I would recommend 205/60/13

I would RECOMMEND a 185/60/13 tire on a 5.5" rim, myself.

That's what I tried to explain to him. Perhaps the tire shop can convince him to drop to under 205 width. Especially since he will likely drop new springs and struts/shocks on the car.
I know he really likes the looks of my tires and wheels, and the way they fit. But, I have 15x7's and 205/50/15.
Thanks.

Any REPUTABLE tire shop would refuse to mount a 215 tire on a 5.5" rim.

i have SUMITOMO 205/60r13's and they are great, plus there is really no way he will see or feel the difference from the next size up (215/xxr13)

Ask RX7Carl what he's running.....(215/50(?)/13 Sumi's on stock wheels) He says he loves 'em..

Re: tires

Nope, they are on the stock rims. No special mods or anything to make em work. 205's would work ok too, but Im kinda extreme on things. HTH

I'm shopping for tires right now, and was going to buy the 205 version of that tire. But if the 215s will fit without major modification then I'll go with those. I have the stock 13" rims on my 85 GS. Thanks for the help (again)!
