20B or not 20B

I have a stock 1982.... does anyone know where I can get a 20B engine and the specs (in english) for the 20B? I would be looking to rebuild it and slap it in (cheapskate) ..... da da da daaah... a 1982 and yank of my 20A. Anyone have any knowledge or opinion on this?

Thanks,

Danny

As far as S E A R C H.... I was wondering if it would be possible to cram that sucker in.... and if so does anyone know who has done this sucessfully.... ok... I know the 20B's are around but if someone knew where one could pick one up at a decent price or someone who had done the mod before I would appreciate the assistance,

Tango Mike (uhhhhh Thanks Much!)

It can be done. Cheaply too. The '78 GLC is a lot like the RX-3. The RX-7 shares a few things from the parts bin, but the engine bay is arranged a little differently; similar, but not super-close. The 12A is a little further back in the RX-7 to help move some of the weight more rearward than it is in the RX-3.

The reason why I mentioned the GLC is because I've stuffed a 20B into one. Here is the only color pic I have. Sorry it's zoomed-in as much as it is. It was to show-off the ugly welds from a fluxcore welder on the header flange.

Frankly, I think it's incredible that the pic even IS in color, since I shot it with a black and white CCD camera. I've got other pics, but they're all B&W.

Please don't barrage me with questions like how I got it to fit etc. Installing a 20B into something isn't like a 13B upgrade into a 12A car. You've got to question your sanity with a 20B.

I'm just curious how you got a color picture out of a black and white camera

I placed a different color filter in front of the camera and took three pictures. Then combined the pics in Paint Shop Pro. The set of red, green and blue filters came out of a color meter, so they're really close to what PSP can work with.

I'll need to mount the camera and a lens holder onto something before I attempt any more color pictures. Having everything held steady should reduce convergance errors. Then again, the different wavelengths of light cause it to focus at different locations on the CCD 'chip', so maybe there's nothing I can do about it. Have you noticed the fish-eye effect? Heh, getting color pics out of a black and white camera is like fitting a 20B into something that had a 1.2L 4 banger; they're both above and beyond their original spec by a few leaps and bounds.
