A few replies.............

Hello Jon,
There's no doubt about it - you're right! I've got a Haynes manual complete with fuzzy Haynes pictures, although it doesn't cover the Savanna's auto-choke system. I could do with info on that to set the idling a little better. I've got new brake pads for the rear discs, and that's going to be my first 'big' job. I'll get there in the end.

Defprun, Fennix sr - Sorry but I have no idea what '6-ports' will do other than in alcoholic terms. Ask me in about a year!

Thanks Terrh - the wheels came with the car which was made exclusively for the Jap home market. A few sets of such wheels ended up in Europe, though I have no idea why as I certainly never saw such a car marketed at the time. It's the emergency flare that really gets me.That's a hoot!

Hi Mike! I couild just do with being a fly on your garage wall for the next six months to pick up a few techy tips. So don't kill any flies that may be buzzing round your ears this summer - it may be ME!

Regards to all,

Frank

Those rims were offered here in Canada as an accessory. It was a rare option but they are out there!

Thanks for that - I wonder where else they got to.

Still no report from anyone of any other surviving Savanna Rx-7 LSD Limited Edn (Jap home market). If anyone hears anything at all I would appreciate details.

Thanks folks

I have a savanna, but its not one of the LSD ... ones. Its an early SA style. No engine and needs work, But the interior is very complete and only needs a little body work on the passenger side fender, but other wise, mirrors and the rest are in great shape. I will try and get some pics. I do have a question though, how many RX7 Savanna badges did they come with? Was there one on each side or just one on the drivers side?

Hello Rotortuner,
That's really interesting and spurs me on to create a page on my website for Savannas instead of just thinking about it. ANY photos would be appreciated, in any state of refurbishment, together with a few words history if you have it.
If you check out 'Gallery 1' in my website at;
http://savanna-rx7.co.uk
there are some shots of the badges I have, maybe yours are similar. Looking towards the front of the car the 'Savanna RX7 LSD' badge is on the left hand side, the 'SE Limited' badge is on the back and there's no badge on the RHS. The owner's manual is in Japanese.
Hope this helps - stay in touch!

I had a 1st gen RX-7 when I lived in Japan 8 years ago. But it wasn't a Savanna.... I think the car is still in my brothers garage overthere! LOL

I did see one or two Savanna's while I was there... Really cool car! And you have a very nice example Savanna82!

Thanks! You know, the strange thing is that before I bought this car just a couple of months ago I had never even HEARD of a Savanna! I'd been looking around for a Series 1 for ages and been to see a few but this was far and away the best. I'm having lots of problems finding others though.

X605

Thanks, X605 - that's a '78 SAVANNA with mirrors on the wings etc? I'll be pleased to get any info/photos and if your friend doesn't mind I'll pop them on a web page.

They would sit too low I think. But anythings possible if youre creative. You just need to run the wires, cut the holes, fill in the old holes, etc.

Hello moprblms, the car was privately imported from Japan in '82. It just came up for sale in the UK this year after being dry-stored for about 6 years and rarely run. Guess I was lucky.

Unhappy Please help me

Hello guys… sorry for disturbing you

Im a new blog member. So im still learning how to use it.

I have a little question….I was wondering what are some of the popular swaps that go into a Mazda RX7 Savanna 1982 (1st generation) I'm looking for something with turbo and that has lots of HP. I would also like to know if there are some possible JDM engine swaps? I’m not an expert so sincerely I have no idea….I’m just trying to help a good friend of mine. Any information regarding engine choice, best engine, price, convenience, advices are all well welcomed. I apologize for my ignorance ahead in time. PLEASE HELP ME…. thank you and i appologize again for the disturb.

Look in the build section in the 1stgen area or the v8 swap section on the main
page for swap information. Most of us in this section prefer the rotary.
