1st Gen in So Cal for sale
The time has come that I must sell my 1979 RX-7, original yellow color. It has been in my family since inception. Although it has 217K miles, it has been maintained beautifully. The factory replaced 12a motor has approximately 30K miles on it. Within the last couple of months, I had a tune up and replaced the distributor, cap, points, shocks, struts, ball joints, and bushings. The body is straight with a slight dent in the right rear fender. It has been garaged in Southern California since purchased new, so there is no rust.
I am looking to find someone who can appreciate this rotary as much as we have. I understand the blue book to be $2,500 to $3,600. Please let me know if anyone has questions or interested in seeing pictures.

I think the blue book value is pretty high just on account of the mileage on the chassis. I know that a rebuilt rotary costs quite a lot but damn 217k is a lotta miles.

Clean body and interior should mean alot to someone that just wants to step into an RX-7 and have fun. I purchased my 85GSL with 160k for $2800. I was willing to pay a little more for a clean body and near perfect interior. don't mind the engine stuff but interior and body work is more then I wanted to deal with.

yeah thats very clean, im sure you could find someone willing to pay 2000-2500 for it, and maybe if you're lucky more, but id be a bit suprised to see it go for more than 2500. Good luck selling it, hope it finds a good home.

Dude, that is one hot looking RX-7!
I have one that looks just like it - also a '79. I have the ET rims on mine too.
Question: Were those rims originally on the car when you bought it?
Did you have any difficulty with CA emissions testing?
Good luck selling her.

The rims were on the car when purchased. I beleive they were dealer aftermarket as I have not seen them on any other RX-7's over the years.
As far as emmisions I dont have a problem once she warm up.
Any tips on where to sell her?

Consider this. If you purchased the car new in 1979 and placed it in storage. Assuming a reasonable storage fee of $30 a month for 26 years would cost you $9360. Just a thought.

Beautiful looking RX Jeremy!...
But: its an "S" model!! ;p
the bottom-of-the-line, 4 speed, no sunroof, stripper-model, which is a crying shame because that is one well care for car! The yellow is a great, 79-only color, but I think knowledgable rotary buyers are going to be reluctant to pay top dollar for this under-equiped car. Best of luck, I hope it finds a home with someone who will take as good a care of it as you have!
