Thats the beautiful thing about drifting, its a drivers sport. Any car can slide, but can the driver slide w/ maximum drift angle, transition smoothly like the car is on ice, all while holding the best racing line. Can driver match the lead car in tandem runs, with big angle following the lead cars pace. Can the driver then pull away from the tail car while holding big angle and following the racing line. Drifting is all about the drivers skill, sure some cars are easier to drive. But its also a judged sport and points are given accordingly.

I've been into drifting for several months at least, and have already learned several lessons.
Don't drift when you have a bad feeling about it. I ended up slamming my car into the curb and killed some suspension.
Don't let a friend drive your car. That caused my second curb accident.
Stay away from curbs!

I'd suggest finding somewhere with thin gravel and wide turns/roads. I love drifting these because you're car stays sideways for a while and you become much more confident.

An El Camino is a far cry from a '66 Fury hearse!

I've always wanted a '58 Cadillac hearse to paint flat black and beat around in...

Yeah, it wasn't a hearse but it was unconventional.

It's funny you mention that, because me and my brother in law were talking about how sick a herse drift car would be.

And Slammed GSL, what kind of mods have you done to the car? ( your car looks like what I am trying to acomplish)

lol. I got it how about an old school beatle, with either a primer special paint job of some sort ( terrible terrible paint). That way it will be the ultimit sleeper look. Or paint it hot pink or something to make it look like a panzie car. That would be helarious.

alright, im driving a 83 gsl, completetly stock. and my plans for it are as follows.
coilovers
intake
exaust from header
that, from what i've been told puts an extra 50 pony's in the stable, though im skeptic.
once that is done i'll be getting struts
and then when im at a level of drifting to where im consistent i'll be doing a 13b TII swap with a upgrade turbo... after lets say half a year.
i won't be carbed after that upgrade so from they're its upgraded fuel injection, ignition and tuning.
it takes time and patience you don't want to break a car your building in the process. decide your setup before you jump into it. and don't be upgrading paycheck to paycheck save some money. start with suspension and make sure your cars ready to kick it sideways first.

intake? what intake, unless you are changing carbs then yes you could run a different intake. 50 hp from exhaust, carb, fuel pump etc with all the bolt ons on a stock port is possible.

You say coilovers.....but a coilover is a unit with the shock, which are not available for our cars. So you should get the re-speed 'coil over' set up which is awesome AND upgrade shocks at the same time while its all apart, otherwise you will get a horrible ride on stock shocks.
