Need help with Rats nest removal!

Hi everyone. I have recently got my rex back in action and have started the removal of the rats nest. I have read and studied the tutorial by Rx7Carl. I have a stock 84 gsl 12a. I am really confused about how to re-route all the hoses and such without having a/c and cruise control. I mostly just need a few up close pictures of where all the hoses hook up to and which ones need plugging. Rx7Carl's tutorial only got me so far into this mission only to leave me confused in the end. lol Thanks for the help in advance!

I just removed all of mine except for the vacuum advance and oil breather. Just plugged them into the carburetor spacer. I simplified the carburetor too so I just capped off all of the blank vacuum barbs.

Thanks for the help. i just went out and plugged most of them. It was a successful mission. There is no idle surge and I can feel a increase in performance. I now realize how many problems the emissions caused on my motor, for example it will stay at idle more quickly without the emissions. im just really surprised and impressed with this project

Yeah emissions sucks when it gets old. It clogs up and gets leaks causing problems.

Im in the same boat as the OP. That tutorial is pretty vague (not enough closeup pics and step by step) and i think they take for granted that the user is well versed in the 12a I just bought my 83 GSL a couple weeks ago and though i have been researching like crazy, i still got somewhat stuck with a small part of the rats nest removal. Everything is finished except for the tie offs/re-routes using the 2 T-fittings. OP, not tryin to thread jack, but maybe my questions are the same as yours?

Any help is appreciated and excuse the noobness, but a search cant yield all i need to know:
1) If i dont need cruise control or A/C, cant i just plug up everything and not have to worry bout T'ing off using the Venti/check valve (was dry rotted and broke off a fitting-damnit) and the selenoid?

2)There are 2 openings near the oil fill shaft once the nest is removed, one at the base and one a few inches higher on the shaft. Can i just plug these and be ok?

3)That little black crown looking thing above the shutter valve, can i just plug that up?

These things werent outlined specifically in the tutorial. I guess the million $ question is what MUST I HAVE hooked up in order for the car to run correctly???

You need to connect the crank case vent valve to the upper barb on the filler neck. Connect the OUT side of the valve to a vacuum barb on the carburetor.

If your aren't using it, chances are you can remove it and block it off with a vacuum cap or remove the part and use a block off plate for things such as the ACV.

Ahhh crap. Now i need to find another Ventilation Valve as the bottom barb broke off (rotted) when i removed it with the rest of the nest. Was hoping i didnt need to use it. Oh well

Get a PCV Valve for a 90 dodge caravan 3.0L. Run your crankcase vent line to the large vacuum port just under the spacer. Put the PCV valve in that line, make sure the arrow is facing the correct way. Works like a charm. I had ridiculous moisture buildup until I switched to the larger port on the intake manifold.
