Question 1984 RX7 with automatic 2.8 V6 engine

hi, im a new user from the UK, i currently own a subaru impreza Turbo but am looking at starting a project on a 1984 RX7.

The car has a custom kit and a 2.8V6 engine with auto gearbox. Any idea's as to what top speed and 0-60 im likely to achive with this set up, i what if any disadvantages/advantages are with the 2.8V6.

i did try doing a search with no joy

cheers
Paul.

Is that the Cologne engine? If so, it's shocking. It weighs probably twice as much as a rotary engine, and the trans will weigh a ton as well, so your handling is going to be shot. I'd imagine you'd probably get 110-120mph on a very long road, 0-60 time of perhaps 8 seconds, and a fuel bill similar to a rotary engine.

I'm sure you've got a lot of SD1 rover V8 engines lying around over there, it'd go a lot better with one of those in it.

What about a ford 2.0 dohc, you know they worked great in the rs500s.

If I am thinking right a vauxhall DOHC 4cly motor bolts up to that trans, and the mounts are close. I cant remember what model the engine is though, it was from the late 70s and ran dual webbers stock.

A little search on Wikipedia shows that it is in fact the Cologne V6. Pretty much the same engine found in the 2.8 powered Bronco's and Rangers here in the US, although with a higher rated HP in the UK. in the US, its rated at about 90HP, while in the UK its anywhere between 130-160hp. Not a bad engine really.
