16" elec. fan on 85gsl

I purchased what was supposedly a 16" Perma-Cool with controller. The controller is Perma-Cool but the fan is made by Revcor. I contacted Revcor and they said they are not affiliated with Perma-Cool. Revcor is an oem supplier. Anyway, the fan I have flows 1550 cfm. Will it be enough to keep the engine cool? The 12a will be peripheral ported, be running a 2nd gen oil cooler, and the header panel will have large vents cut for more flow to the radiator. I plan on using the stock shroud.

If I were you, I will return it and buy a fan from a fiero, ford taurus, etc etc instead. Use the hardearned cash on other things. Out of curiosity, I took the 16" derale in the FB and replaced it with a 3.1 liter fiero with fan built-in fan shroud instead. Used a hvac aluminum tape to close any openings. I havent seen any problem so far and the final test will come in about 5 months (thats during SOCAL summer and stop/go traffic).

But if you cant, then just give it a shot. I've seen guys with BP running only a 14" fan. Also, I dont quite get what you're trying to do with the "header panel". There is nothing blocking the radiator as far as I know.

I did a search and found a thread relating to what I was referring to with the header panel:

I have a lead on a fan from a taurus sho that I think should work fine.

OK, I read the posts.

Anywyas, I also made comparison between the ford taurus and the mercury counterpart ( i cant remember the name) but the mercury's fan motor is shorter than the taurus. I was going to get it except the fan was gone when I went back the following day. So I ended up with a Fiero 3.1 ltr. Also, I heard that the Dodge caravan's 3.3 liter van has a big fan too and will have an exact fit. Except, I havent tried it since I cant find it in my local j/y.
