13btt Block

A friend of mine who used to race 3rd gens professionally has offered me a Race Built (upgraded bearings, apex seals, fully rebuilt with all new seals.) 13btt block.

My questions are:

Can I carb this motor and drop it into my 84?

What tranny will mate up to this? (Gsl/se was a 13b will that work)

Will I be gaining anything by doing this? (Horsepower)

What will my ignition system consist of? (cap and rotor?)

This might have been covered before but I would like some current infomation.
I would like the 13btt block just because the possibilities seem endless.

The motor is a 93 and my gsl is an 84 stick.

If i missed anything please let me know and I willtry to fill in the blanks.

Thanks
Jason

You want to run it as a Normally Aspirated engine? If so, your biggest problem will be finding an intake for the engine.

Only Jay-Tek/Pro-Tek offer intakes for the 93, to bolt on Holley carbs.

Otherwise you'd have to go fuel injection with the stock intakes. And if you did that - you might as well go Turbo...

I'd get the engine either way. Even if it sits there until you're ready.

You would need a
Holley Carb
Jay-Tek or Pro-Jay Intake (hard to find)
1st Gen front cover
GSL-SE Oil Pan
Stock FB ignition and distributor.

Are you going to use a turbocharger, or not?
Is the engine built for turbo, i.e porting and rotor compression ratios, etc.?

Are you asking what benefit would you expect from an engine built and ported for turbos with low compression rotors, in normally aspirated form? (You would lose horsepower, everything else equal.)

You could use an aftermarket eccentric shaft triggered ignition, as an alternative to the distributor.

No porting on the engine.
It is set up to run stock sequential turbos.

If i was to use the j-tek and a holley with headers and the msd ignition would i have any gains?

Otherwise does anyone wanna buy a 13btt motor?
