With my old Yaw Nikki, which was a modified stock carb,I ran a Holley low pressure regulator at around 2.5 to 3 psi. That was Paul Yaw's recommendation and it ran awesome like that.
Thats all the pressure you really need, provided you run a high volume pump, like the Carter 7lb unit.

thata funny story about that. lol. i have a purolator pump(i think, its some piece of junk i threw on there cause i cant use my walbro 255 yet). anyway, i have a mallory fpr the boost reference kind. and no matter what i adjust my setting at, the fuel pressure wont go over like 2 psi at most!!
now keep in mind i have a larger return line, and the restrictor in has been removed. but when i had it warming up yesterday, i watched my fuel presure gauge, which is right on the fpr, it was just a little jumpy, but it sat right around 0 psi lol, but the car doesnt have any problem with getting fuel, i just think i have removed all of the restrictions, so i cant get my fuels pressure up. but the car pulls fine, and doesnt empty the bowls at all, if anyone would care to make an opinion on this, go ahead.

I have a nikki carb on my car with a holley blue fuel pump and i dont run it over 3.5 psi because otherwise it loads up right away. i don't run under 3 psi because then my car detonates over 6500 rpm. Never good to see 4 gounding tips on one spark plug melted to the electrode with the porceline cracked in 6 places......... i could be wrong........

Old [Sch|F]ool
2psi.
This has proved to give me the best quarter mile acceleration as well as half-decent fuel economy, in conjunction with the straight through exhaust, timing alteration, and driver habits. In addition, no annoying bogs or stutters while cornering, even when cornering and bouncing all over the damn place because of the shitty local roads, center dividers in the way, etc. (If I was supposed to avoid it, why was it placed in the middle of my cornering line? )
As they say, your mileage may vary, and testing is the only way you can find out what YOUR situation wants.
