13b/12a throw out bearing difference

The search fails me yet again.

My FB has a 13b swap and is still running the original 12a tranny. After I rebuilt the clutch master and slave I noticed that there was no play between the release bearing and the pressure plate. Now the release bearing is squealing like a banshee and needs to be replaced.

Does anyone know if the GSLSE or the FC release bearing is shorter than the 12a version?

all S3 t/o bearings are identical, 12A to 13B.

There is a non splined section of the input shaft on the trans as well as the pivot ball on the clutch fork that could have gotten hung up upon re installation. This happened with my last installation and my pp wasn't disengaging properly.

I wish I could remember what combination of parts it was... but I did a swap-o-rama using X slave cylinder (no beehive means you can use ANYTHING) and I think a Series 5 trans, and I ended up needing to take a quarter inch off of the slave's pushrod before I could even get the slave cylinder bolted in.

I haven't noticed any difference at all between throwout bearings. And, I can tell you that the S5 fork and the 12A fork (unknown series) were identical. I never had that problem before or since, and I've had just about every conceivable combination of RX-7 vintage nonturbo engine/clutch/trans you could think of.

There are differences between 12A and FC clutch forks, but they are compatible. The slave rods from old school ribcase trannies are about 10mm longer than from smooth cases. A friend wore out an RB HD disc in his RX-4 after a swap to a smooth case FB trans because we accidentally kept the long slave rod. Swapped rods and everything works fine now.

To the OP, 79-88 throw-out bearings are the same.

Aren't the turbo T/O bearings tougher though. They have a a different part number. I have always run them and I've never had an issue.
