12aT p'wns

This should prolly be in the kills section, but like most 1st gen guys, I barely stop in there to read. I love my 12aT FB. I pulled into this gas station to get gas. These two guys are staring at me hard, there sitting in a slightly modded early 00's Mustang GT. So I start pumping my gas.....one of them nudges his buddy and jokingly said "you wanna run em". I thought about, acted like I wasnt worthy. There are alot of Mustangs around here. So we pull out onto the highway and start cruising, they get up beside me, and start antagonizing me. So I stick it about half throttle to zero vacuum and they stomp it. They get about 2 cars in front of me and I stick it, perfect timing to where I finish 3rd gear and compression surge goin by them. I wish my camera wasnt broke. My car is far from pretty, and pretty loud. They prolly thought I was another ricer kid w/ a fart can on the back of my car. I cant wait till I can hold the power Im making w/ the RB clutch and pressure plate I ordered yesterday.

Im not sure of the mods on the GT, had a nice exhaust kit on there. BPU's. I know its bottle fed, but he didnt spray.

Noice. Heh, I heard from Zac that there are a lot of Mustangs down there as well. Im glad your setup is working out well for you, Im really getting anxious to get a car and get mine up and running. There are a good number of cars running around here, and a lot of guys with the "good ol boy" mentality of V8 or nothing that always need a good attitude adjustment.

I can't imagine your being serious. I've seen late 90's (97-98) Cobras that were blown only run mid to high 13's at best. In my opinion Mustangs are notoriously slow, even with mild modifications. I can't say much for the 05+ models becasue I haven't seen one perform first hand on the street, but for all the 04 and earlier cars, they are hardly competiton for most vehicles in my opinion.

I saw the bottle in the trunk, they were messing w/ it in the parking lot. I dont know how big of a shot he had, and Im sure he would of walked me had he sprayed. If your calling BS, maybe you should check out my vid on the forums of me waxing the modded S2000, and I then, and now have a massively slipping clutch.

Cobra's came from the factory in 2003 to present supercharged (or blown) and run low 13's high 12's with a good driver, again... from the factory. You add headers, exhaust, pulley, chip (minor cheap bolt on mods) and you have a pretty FAST street car. I don't know what Cobra's you've seen that gave them the notoriously slow label, but Cobra's are nothing to sneeze at. I have a 99 Cobra with headers, flowmasters and dragradials... I love RX-7's and all (currently own two 1st gens) but Cobra's are not SLOW.

Mustangs are made out to be fast, but most GTs really are not. Cobras are a diffrent story, I havent ridden in a Cobra yet that was slow, but GTs on the other hand are not that fast. I seen one at the track one night with basic bolt ons run a 10.09 in the 8th with a decent driver. My stock ported 12A is about that fast.

I didn't mean to offend you, and I wasn't talking about the factory boosted Cobras. I was refering more to the previous models, and mostly 96-98's actually. A friend of mine has a 90 300zx TT, with a full exhaust, larger intercoolers, fuel pump, and runs a high boost of 14psi. Runs 18" rear wheels, and 17" front, with the stock 3:50 something rear end. We ran against a 98 Cobra that was supercharged, and supposedly a 13 some second car and he walked it like it was standing still. He also went up against a modified Mach 1, and walked it.

Im not saying Cobras are slow, and I and my friends have had the oppurtunity to go up against any Cobras newer than 98, or 99. My friends TII beat a 95 cobra that was built pretty heavily as well though. The TII was running a full 3" exhaust, fuel pump, FCD, and intake.

A gentleman I used to work for had a 96 Cobra convertible with an intake, headers, full exhaust, and uder drive pulleys and the best he ever got it to run was a 14.1

Like I said, I wasn't trying to offend, or be a ***** about it. Mustangs aren't really my thing, there are a million of them running around here. Every mustang I haver personally went up against, or any of my friends have went up against has been beaten. Given the majority of them were GTs. I don't mind a Mustang, and think its a good car for the price. However when it comes down to it, the only real Mustang I would take is the Boss 429 that a friend of my grandfather has sitting in his garage, or maybe a Turbo Fox body.

My apologies once again,
Chris

U don't have to apologize... I'm all about pulling on a Mustang in my 1st gen... the feeling of pulling on a V8 in a 1.2 or 1.3L is a better feeling ANY day then the other way around...
