12A Wiring Harness Streamlining

I'm currently running a Holley and no emmissions. This means that the majority of the wires on the wiring harness are unused and are now stored on the passenger side (tie wrapped up and out of the way). I was thinking of getting my hands on another wiring harness and removing the wires that are not needed so that I don't have the mess on the passenger side that I do now. Can I just clip the wires off the new harness or do I have to do something special to make sure they don't short circuit or send a false reading to sensors?

Thanks in advance.

Just grab the 2 passenger harnesses and un-unpin whatever you dont need, trim the lenght and re-solder. You need:
Alternator wire (one wire per harness)
Oil pressure
Water Temp

I dont use the oil pan sensors.

I sat down with the FSM and depinned the wires I didn't need. The manual shows how to do it. Thee are 2 sensors on the oil pan, sub-zero temp sensor, you don't need, I'd keep the low oil sensor.

By depinning, you mean I can just remove them from the main connector? I'll check out the FSM.

i did this to a spare harness from a junkyard motor (just in case i kept the stock harness untouched), it makes the engine bay much cleaner

That's exactly what I'll do. Thanks for the picture too! Did you keep anything except the water temp, oil pressure and alternator wiring?
