12a Turbo?

Is there anywhere I can get a 12a turbo? I really do not want to sell Rosie, but she blew an apex or two and the bolts to the ACV broke IN the threads and i have a major vaccuum leak now. I love turbo cars, but i dont want a 13b, because i have the headers and stuff for the 12a. Do yall know of anywhere i can get a 12a turbo, new or rebuilt? Maybe a better question is, did they ever make a 12a turbo? What about gettin a streeted 12a Turbo?

Talk to Robert there, he can get you a 12aturbo engine, or get you all the parts to convert yours to a 12aTurbo.

Why would you use ""headers and stuff" with a Turbo?

That's not a 12A turbo as such. It's a 12A with a turbo bolted on. It might come down to the same, but it isn't what the guy was talking about.
Yes, Mazda DID built a 12AT, the first gen came as a turbo model for the domestic Japanese market only, in the last two years. It was rated some 160hp, all of the cars being RHD. Well, almost... Mazda built ONE LHD. That's basicly a GSL-SE spec car, but using the 12AT. It was especially made for Dr Felix Wankel, and presented to him as a gift. It's now on the road in Germany, and looks stunning.
Two options for 12AT: either J-spec (lower compression, EFI,...) or turbocharge a normal 12A (as in the links above).

Ya you'll be waiting for awhile for a 12a from rotary shack. Take a number and get in line. lol but It'd probably be cheaper to buy all the necessary parts to just turbo it yourself.

According to my source the Japanese turbo 12a was only 152 hp whereas the Elford turbo 12a was 170 hp. Elford had a Mazda dealership (one of the largest in the UK) and my friend bought a his there new as a turbo, but presumably you could buy a kit to add the turbo to a stock 12a. He thinks other dealers may have sold the Elford turbo cars as well but he's not sure.

The salesfolder says 160 Bhp... Britsh Horse Power.... but I don't know if that's different from US horses or pony's

For the rest you're right... Elford had a large dealership in the UK

160 British horsepower would still only be 160-162 hp of any other variety. I have heard the 170 figure other places too, I don't know why the difference. Maybe they changed components over the years with different hp results. What year was the folder from?

Elford turbo's are type approved in Europe, and could be bought as such in the UK, but they are not Mazda made as such: they came in as a normal car and were modified by Elford. I'm not sure how things were arranged back then, but according to the folder it was an aftermarket part, basicly available for those who already had a Rex.
Again: it's a conversion, where as Mazda 12AT are genuine Mazda and JDM only.
According to Classic and Sportscars (British classic car magazine) Elford's had 160BHP.(=brake horse power)

Not anymore... The elford kit is going back to the UK. I'm going flat out: TII on standalone ECU.
Specs so far: S5 longblock, all emissioncontrols gone, ultralight flywheel, polished everything I can finish in time (), etc... Should make 250~300hp to start with

Interes. Now can anyone give a rough estimate of what a turbo setup from rotary shack for 12a would run for the turbo downpipe, exhaust manifold, carb+jetting, carb hat, rise regulator, intercooler etc...those guys must be really busy because they don't return e-mails.I'm just curious of a small turbo setup.

Yep, laws have changed... a bit. We can now lower our cars, but only with TUV approved parts. Anyway, I do have a TII engine now, but I'm going to see what happens tomorrow with the inspections.
Engine swaps are still FULLY ILLEGAL, but, they'll never notice. They really don't know anything about rotaries
CO etc will still be good enough, so that's going to be ok.
It's a lot harder to get the suspension and wheels through inspections, they are too obvious.
The brakes are completley illegal aswell, but since they say "Mazda" they don't have a clue...

the 12at's were originally brought out as 160 bhp which is at the wheels, later on in the development ( cant remember exact dates ) there was a refinement which saw an extra 5 horsepower brought out of them, they were brought out in the series 3 rx7 and in the hb cosmo range
