u can get more then a couple months depending on YOUR driving habits. Quick shifts and dumping the clutch all the time, having slicks on the drive wheels contribute to fast transmission aging with the boost. Ask how i know!
A new thing I learned- make sure you have good rear shocks. Take it EASY on a bumpy road with boost!!! I have had a transmission and rear end ruin gears going over bumps.

Why not swap a TII tranny in and not worry? I like the way that the gears are spaced better as well, plus the lower cruise RPM is nice.
Of course you still must watch the rear end.

TII trannies have proved to be a difficult and high priced item to find or acquire around here. Plus 12a transmissions are pretty common and priced better. Could always swap in a n/a s4 tranny and switch the tail assembly if you want a low rpm cruse in 5th gear too.

love the braaaap
TII tranny is the only way to go. Chances are, your going to blow up the tranny, then before you blow up the second, assuming you use another 12A tranny, your going to blow up the rear end. The tranny can support about 250hp without a lot of torque, and the rear end about 300, but as soon as you add the torque of a turbo, say bye bye to both those parts. Best thing to do is use a stock clutch and skinny tires out back. You want your weakest point to be the tires to help preserve the rest of the drivetrain.

Woah man, 12a tranny will work fine for a good while if its good shape. Trust me, you do not want a stock clutch and your not going to want skinny tires. Stock clutch will not hold any kind of power that youll be making, not worthy of even boosting. Unless your going w/ some crazy turbo setup, I use a S4 turbo and I race it every weekend, dumping the clutch running 10+ pounds w/ wide directional tires. My tranny isnt in the best of shape to begin w/ and it takes it week after week. I wouldnt run slicks or anything, that will tend to break some stuff. Eventually w/ enough abuse the tranny will more than likely fail, but I wouldnt worry about it anytime soon. One day, I will switch to a TII tranny.

Airflow is my life
From all Ive read from people who have way more experience than me on this, the skinny is that the stock trans and rear is ok up till about 300-350hp. Of course it does depend on how you treat it. If you abuse it, youll kill it, even with 200hp.
