wow...those porting templates are garbage and a complete waste of money...If you can snash some up for free from somebody... or for super cheap do that...Other wise your wasting too much money on port templates that only take the lip's off the stock ports...and the end result is still looking stock...Try free hand porting, cause in the end that what your going to have to do anyways...

Im doing mine form scratch,im also doing my housing's.Im going to get them nex week form my boy,he's got a great set for me.But the housing's are 79 13b,so the stock exhaust port is very small. But im make my own templates, the best way to go is makeing them yourself...good luck and have fun...

What would brand new templates run you? I ask because buying "cheap" templates seems like penny wise pound foolish to me.

Yes you can **** up really bad...but you would have to be blind, and not have any control over your nercous system... All you really have to keep in mind when porting is keeping the same shape thruogh out the porting stage...The templates are just there to outline where or how far your going...Some people make porting harder then what it really is...and in reality porting is not that hard...

listen to what the man is saying...if he could buy used porting plates that he/she can get from mazdatrix he would rather do that...if he can't find used one's then he will have to buy mazdatrix templates...He's pretty much asking if anybody has some porting plates laying around that he/she is not using...

OK. I got a friend that owns a professional engine building bussiness and he does porting on cylinder engines but he knows a little about rotaries. He can help me port it. He said i would pay NOTHING for it too.

You could go to Atkins or Pineapple and ask them to mark your irons with their templates, they would probably do it cheap.

Save your self some cash and get a port that will fit your needs.

A couple years ago I tried to get a thread going where folks would post indexed photos of the ports so we could share them. No one would share.

That is a good idea. I should do that. Atkins is only like 2 hours from my house too.

As other people have said in various of your other threads, plan out exactly what your goals are.

In one you are talking about porting, the other gas mileage. Ported motor generally = less MPG

Figure out your goals for your car and know exactly what you wanna do

You will also want to think about how much you can spend...

You can cut in bridge port in what you have, but then you will want to consider carbon apex seals, hardened stationary, and an upgraded oiling system.

Or, standard street port and may not need all of those upgrades.

You know, swapping in an JDM S5 turbo engine is just about the cheapest way to get HP, milage, and drive-ability. 300 HP is at your finger tips.
